Columbia Women’s Big Arcadia II Jacket Plus
This is a Columbia shell jacket made from 100% nylon on the exterior and 100% polyester internally. Prices start at $55, more than some of Columbia’s fleece alternatives, but for the added premium you get a fully waterproof jacket that is suitable for all weathers and activities.
Sizes vary from 1X plus to 3X plus and there is an excellent choice of colors. The jacket is very well made, machine washable with a stow away hood. It is also quite substantial in size, unlike some fleece jackets that can run a little short, so it covers everything well. Pockets are zipped, allowing for extra security.
In terms of style, this jacket fairs very well considering its primary goal is its functionality. As mentioned before, plenty of colors are available, and it manages to look good whilst also protecting you in all weathers.
Our biggest issue with this jacket is its sizing. Like so many similar products it runs small and for the most part we would recommend going a size up. The sleeves are quite long, and quite tight, even at the next size up, so if your arms are large then this might not be the ideal choice. We feel that making the arms shorter but wider would have made this jacket all the more practical.
Overall this is a high quality, stylish and functional jacket that comes recommended, however sizing could be an issue, with the arms being on the snug side even at the next size up.
